Cloud Mountain Farm
Cloud Mountain Farm was started in 1978 by Tom and Cheryl Thornton as an apple orchard and garlic farm, and over the years has expanded into vegetable crops, nursery production and a farm education center.
Cloud Mountain is known for researching, propagating and growing the best varieties for the Pacific Northwest. Tom’s long fascination with the world of wine led him to campaign for and plant a wide variety of vinifera, hybrid and table grapes. His forward thinking regarding climate change, variety selection, and experimentation have been hugely inspirational for us, and he has introduced us to grape varieties whose names we had only previously seen in books (Prince of Casbah! Golubuk! Iskorka!).
Unfortunately most of their vineyard has been torn out, but we were lucky to harvest one vintage (2020) and bud wood for our future vineyards.
