Blackberry + Crabapple + Seedling Pear 2022
Made entirely from island foraged fruits. 2022 was the most epic long gorgeous blackberry season we had ever seen. Jupiter and I picked nearly every day in short stints, filling a demijon at a time. We picked from August through October, and as the Blackberry wine aged in glass it softened, integrated, and lightened with time. We had a small cuvee of crabapple juice mixed with crushed seedling pears that was so delicious on its own but would only yield a few cases, and together they were so obviously harmonious this new foraged bottling was born. A tawny blush in color, with light perky tannin, mellow berry notes and a pithiness from the pears that can only come from something wild growing without tempering.
