NICCOLO COTURRI Sun Beach Road Siegerrebe Lopez Island 2023
Our first still, non sparkling wine made on the islands, from grapes we grow on Lopez Island. Though we have become known for sparkling wines, those familiar with Nic’s wine making and family history in California know he cut his teeth for decades on making still wines from the California grapes we know and love: Zinfandel, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, among others. This wine, made from an aromatic white grape called Siegerrebe, fermented on its skins as classically done with red wines (categorically known as an Orange wine) is an exciting culmination of winemaking experience being applied to a new place and new grape.
A two week maceration on the grape skins has pulled and retained a perfect rosebud blush color. Aromatics are heady and balanced with light tannin. Like a laden patch of berries after a hot afternoon of sun drenched hours. Refreshing like sea breeze. A wine we are extremely proud of and love to drink. Think Quince paste, magnolia petal.
Label art by our dear friend local artist Glenn Hendrick.
