Sparkling Jupiter 2020
Our first experiment with the hybrid grape Jupiter, from a vineyard in Everson, WA. The vineyard sadly no longer exists, but it was budwood from this planting that we used both in our own small vineyard, and in our collaboration with Winding Road Farms and Alluvial Farms to plant their vineyard blocks.
Jupiter is a seedless red Muscat variety developed at the University of Arkansas in the 90s. It has large, juicy berries with a beautiful floral flavor and aroma. It grows well in our region with minimal inputs, and makes a stellar sparkling wine. For us, this grape exemplifies the spectral future of wine beyond classic vinifera.
